The University of Texas at Arlington's history started in the year 1895. The University of Texas System is the parent organization of the University. It started as Arlington College. It was primarily established as a private school. It has gone through name changes many times in its journey. In 1923, it was renamed North Texas Agricultural College and Arlington State College in 1949. In the year 1967, it got its current name and status.
