In celebration of its 40th anniversary, UFV and the UFV Alumni Association recognized the institution's Top 40 Alumni, highlighting the achievements of its graduates.
UCFV achieved full university status and was renamed the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), reflecting its expanded role in higher education.
UCFV awarded its first baccalaureate degrees, signifying its growth in higher education.
Launched in January 2025, UFV co-leads the SF4C Platform, a national agrifood innovation and entrepreneurship program. With $16.2 million in federal funding over five years, the initiative focuses on developing technologies to enhance Canada's food production and resilience. Dr. Lenore Newman, Director of UFV's Food and Agriculture Institute, serves as one of the national directors for this platform.
In February 2025, UFV received federal funding as part of a $23 million investment to expand the National i2I Network. This program provides innovation, commercialization, and entrepreneurship training for students, researchers, and professionals in STEM and healthcare fields. Dr. Jon Thomas, Director of UFV's Esposito Family Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, plays a key role in this initiative.
In 2019, UFV initiated a project to collect and analyze decades of patent data from inventors in the Fraser Valley. This research aimed to understand regional innovation patterns and was presented by student research assistant Jordan Evans at an international conference in Ottawa.
