University of Vale do Itajaí History

Established in 1964, Universidade do Vale do Itajaí (Itajaí Valley University) is a non - profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Itajaí (50,000 - 249,999 inhabitants population range), Santa Catarina. On September 16, 1964, the Itajaiense Higher Education Society (SIES)'s first official document was registered, providing for the operation of two faculties: the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Philosophy, Science and Letters.

Universidade do Vale do Itajaí (UNIVALI) offers courses and programs that lead to officially recognized degrees in higher education, such as bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and doctoral degrees in several fields. It offers more than 70 undergraduate, bachelor and technology courses, consisting of nearly 26,000 students, offering basic to postgraduate education, highlighting the offer of ten masters and six doctoral degrees. Research groups and extension projects operate within the institution, moving not only the academic community but also the surrounding population. The foundation also maintains Hospital Infantil Pequeno Anjo, Radio Univali FM, TV Univali, a publisher, and university-wide agreements. It's not for profit, though you charge a tuition fee. All the resources collected with the value of the monthly payments are used to cover their maintenance costs, in social projects or reinvested in their structure improvement. Because of its characterization of the community, it has access to several scholarships and government funding programs that allow access to some kind of benefit to 73 per cent of its students.
