The University of Wales Background

The University of Wales was originated as a central university with three essential institutions - Aberystwyth, Bangor and Cardiff. The university was the primary and eldest university in Wales, one of the four countries in the United Kingdom. The university was the next major university in the UK. A federal university alike University of London, the University of Wales was in charge of examining students, while its colleges were in charge of teaching.

Colleges under the University of Wales include most universities in Wales, Aberystwyth University, Bangor University, St David's University College, Lampeter, and now merged with University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Cardiff University, Swansea University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, and University of Wales, Newport.

The University of Wales Achievements

The University of Wales and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David agreed on a deed of union which conveyed on the original policy objective of integrating two historic Universities, thus creating a new University for Wales. The transformed University will provide programs that are attractive to students from all parts of the UK and internationally.
