University of Worcester was founded in 1946. It is a public research university in Worcester, England, United Kingdom. It was founded as an Emergency Teacher Training College for the University of Birmingham. 

University History

In 1946 University of Worcester was founded as an Emergency Teacher Training College for the University of Birmingham. In the 1970s the Council for National Academic Awards validated the degrees of the Worcester College of Higher Education and the former Pierson Library, which is now The Peirson Study and Guidance Center was started. In 1997 the Privy Council approved the institution's degree-awarding powers and then it began to be known as University College Worcester.

University Achievements/ USP

An OFSTED report for the overall standard of the Institute of Education's teaching program rated the university as "Excellent". In June 2010, the training of teachers at the university was rated ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED. In 2008, results of the first four National Student Surveys listed Worcester in the top 40 universities for student satisfaction, the most satisfactory was in English, History and Teacher Training. In March 2010, the university was ranked 54th out of the top public sector places to work in the city. In 2019, The University of Worcester is ranked #1 in the UK, and 26th globally, for Quality Education, according to the Times Higher Education rankings. Campuses

St John's Campus

The University of Worcester’s main campus is St John's campus and is the base home for all the courses, support departments and academic institutes, except business, computing, marketing or management-related departments. The campus includes Halls of Residence with more than 800 rooms, a sports center, sports pitches, facilities for training nurses, midwives, and physician associates, a commercial standard digital arts center and a motion performance center. The Peirson Center provides study spaces for everyone, as well as ICT facilities, support and a Student Guidance Center. The campus is situated close to the local area of St Johns, Worcester.

City Campus

The University of Worcester’s second campus is City Campus, and it is the home to the Worcester Business School. The campus was opened in September 2010 on the site of the former Worcester Royal Infirmary in Infirmary Walk. The buildings of the original infirmary, are the work of the noted eighteenth-century architect Anthony Keck. Phase 1 of the campus was completed on time for the 2010 academic year. The campus also includes Halls of Residence with accommodation for 250 students. All Worcester Business School courses are taught here, which includes undergraduate and postgraduate courses. 

Severn Campus

The University of Worcester occupies a large site adjacent to the River Severn known as Severn campus. This campus includes an Art Space & Exhibition building and a 2,000-seat-capacity sports arena, a national center of excellence for disability sports and as a further teaching and office space. The Worcester Arena is also accessible to the local community of the city.

Lakeside Campus 

University of Worcester’s Lakeside Campus is located in the Worcestershire countryside, just a 10-minute drive away from the main campus. The campus is spread across 50-acre of land which includes a watersports lake, grass pitches, woodlands and an activity center.

Short Term Study Visa (STSV)
