University of Zagreb History

The University of Zagreb also known as Sveu?ilište u Zagrebu in Croatian is one of the oldest universities in Central Europe and is based in Zagreb, Croatia. The university was established in 1669 as Jesuit Academy of the Royal Free City of Zagreb by the decree of Leopold I. The university presently enrolls 0ver 70,000 students and employs 7900 staff.

The University of Zagreb comprises of 29 faculties offering a wide range of courses in Pharmacy and Biochemistry, Architecture, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computing, Graphic Arts, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering, Textile Technology, Transport, and Traffic Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine to name a few.

The University of Zagreb is also home to 3 art academies known as Academy of Dramatic Art, Academy of Fine Arts, and Academy of Music which offer courses in arts, music, dance, fine arts, and other creative streams.
