With the amalgamation of four local educational institutions, Vancouver Community College was founded in 1965 as Vancouver City College. Initially, classes were held in the King Edward Centre's facilities. When Vancouver City College withdrew from the Vancouver School Board in 1974, it was renamed Vancouver Community College.

Vancouver Community College Campuses

 Vancouver Community College has two campuses, both of which are Sky Train accessible. The Downtown campus is located at Dunsmuir and Hamilton in Downtown Vancouver (two blocks west of Stadium–Chinatown Metro). The Broadway campus, also known as the VCC–Clark campus, is located at 1155 East Broadway, near the VCC–Clark station. VCC also maintains over a third-dozen outreach and learning centers in the community.

     The VCC Students' Union was founded in 1974 to represent the 13,000 students that attend Vancouver Community College. The SUVCC is connected to the centre of campus life, offering students with access to recreation, events, and chances to contribute to the community as part of its commitment to its members' well-being.

Many seminars/conferences on health and well-being are held at the college to ensure that students are always aware of their mental health and well-being. International students will be able to get significant work experience and real employment skills in Canada. International students can have a part-time job for up to 20 hours per week throughout their studies and full-time during program holidays and break if they meet the following requirements:
