Examinations are conducted twice a year, with odd semester end term examinations generally held in November – January and even semester end term examinations generally held in March – May. The examination calendar is uploaded on the university website, and notifications and timetables are notified before 30 days of the scheduled examinations
Revaluation of answer scripts after publishing the results is permitted only for programmes that have a single valuation system. Revaluation is not permissible for failures in practical, clinical, or project components. Retotalling is permitted for programmes with double or multiple valuation systems. The prescribed application form is available on the university website and must be forwarded to the Controller of Examinations through the Head of Institution
Admissions for B.E./B.Tech degree programmes are made on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination. Merit-based counselling is conducted by the Admission Monitoring Committee (AMC) of VMRF-DU, following the eligibility criteria prescribed by AICTE, New Delhi. JEE Main qualified candidates are given preference for admission.
The university's main campus is located in Salem and is described as a scenic marvel surrounded by mountains, making it a hallmark of the city. The institution provides separate hostels for boys and girls, with exclusive visitors rooms available in all hostels.
The hostels provide a vegetarian and non-vegetarian mess for students. A sick room with 24-hour medical support is provided for students. The hostel accommodation fee is Rs. 25,500/- per year, and mess fees are payable separately.
After confirmation of admission and reporting to the Head of Institution, foreign students are required to obtain a Bonafide Certificate from the Ph.D Section office and apply for a Residential Permit of Tamil Nadu state
For NRI students, getting a student visa for studies at Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation (Deemed to be University) would not be a problem. NRI students are advised to obtain and bring the Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) card.
