Virginia Tech is a public research university located in Blacksburg, Virginia. Virginia Tech also has educational facilities in six regions statewide, and a study-abroad site in Switzerland. Through its Corps of Cadets ROTC  program, Virginia Tech is also designated as one of six senior military college in the country.It was established in 1872 and is now the commonwealth’s most comprehensive university as well as its leading research institution.

The university has a student to faculty ratio of 14:1 and acceptance rate of 73%. The university manages a research portfolio of $504 million. It is mandatory for the freshmen to live on the campus.
