Santa Barbara, United States of America
1. Completed Application Form
Applicants can choose between Westmont's personalized application or the Common Application. Both options are free of charge, and there is no preference for either.
2. Official High School Transcripts
Official transcripts from all high schools attended must be submitted directly from school officials. If the applicant has completed any college-level coursework, those transcripts should also be provided.
3. Standardized Test Scores (Optional)
Westmont College has adopted a test-optional policy. Applicants may choose to submit SAT, ACT, or CLT scores; however, these are not required for admission. The college conducts a holistic review of each application, considering academic credentials, extracurricular involvement, demonstrated leadership, and more.
4. Letters of Recommendation
One academic reference from a teacher in a major subject (e.g., English, Science, History, Math) is required. An optional pastoral or character reference may also be submitted. These references can be accessed within the application process.
5. Personal Statement
A personal statement or essay is required, allowing applicants to share their motivations for applying to Westmont College, their academic interests, and personal experiences. This provides insight into the applicant's character and aspirations.
6. Optional Interview
While not mandatory, applicants have the option to participate in an interview. This can provide a more personal perspective on the applicant's fit for the college.
