Wheelock College, History

Wheelock College was established in 1888 by Lucy Wheelock as Miss Wheelock’s Kindergarten Training school. The college’s academic programs merged with Boston University School of Education in 2018.

Campuses

Wheelock College campus is located in Boston. It is a huge campus which has all the modern facilities to provide a comfortable environment for the students to study. It has many buildings, libraries, IT rooms, sports activities and various housing facilities.

Libraries

Wheelock College Libraries houses more than 2.4 million physical volumes, over 45,000 current unique serial, and 77,000 media titles. They provide research tools and services that include library instruction from research basics to graduate-level classes, reference services in all our major libraries, access to digital resources and librarian-created guides with curated resources.

Housing services

Wheelock College offered six residence halls to their students: Longwood House, Peabody Hall, Riverway House, Campus Centre Student Residence, Pilgrim House and Colchester House. Longwood House was a co-educational facility home to 70 students both first year and upper-class man. Peabody Hall, housed 260 undergraduates. Peabody hall has traditional style dorms as well as suite-style living. Riverway House was a co-educational dorm. The Campus Centre Student Residence building was the newest dorm on campus. CCSR held 100 students. Pilgrim House was home to 80 first year and upper-class women. Pilgrim has traditional dorms with community style living and Colchester House housed 25 graduate and undergraduate upperclassman students.

Undergraduate students are represented in BU Wheelock College of Education & Human Development by an active student council. In addition to planning and providing educational, athletic functions and social the student government is the voice of undergraduate students at the Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. Undergraduate students of the college, through the student government, are also active participants in the Boston University Student Senate.
