Minimum age starting around 17 years (for full-time bachelor entry).
Duration of the bachelor’s programme: typically 4 years (in many full-time specialities) or up to 4-6 years depending on speciality.
Form of study: Full-time study is common; some programmes may offer part-time or other modes.
Language of instruction: Many programmes are in Russian; international students may need to demonstrate Russian language proficiency.

In 2006, the AltSTU team of the Faculty of Information Technology won a gold medal at the global student computer programming competition, the ACM ICPC World Finals, which took place in the United States.
In March–May 2016 AltSTU commissioned a new data-storage system (disk / DWH array) to upgrade its IT infrastructure. This project was driven by increased volumes of stored and processed information at the university under new educational standards. The system was delivered and commissioned by STC Galex. The upgrade reflects AltSTU’s investment in improving its digital backbone, supporting teaching, research and administrative data flows.
