Academic Qualification

Applicants must hold a senior high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., IB Diploma, A?levels, or 12+ years of schooling). International qualifications are assessed for equivalency to the German Abitur. Applicants lacking direct equivalency may be required to complete a foundation year or undertake a Studienkolleg preparatory course.

Minimum Age Requirement

Applicants should typically be at least 18 years old at the time of application.

English Language Proficiency

Required minimum scores include:

IELTS: 5.0–6.0, with no sub-score below 4.5–5.5

PTE Academic: 46–50+

Duolingo English Test: around 95

(or equivalent demonstration of CEFR B2 level)

Selection Criteria

BSBI has an approximate acceptance rate of 70–85%. Meeting minimum thresholds does not guarantee admission. Generic GPA requirements: around 2.25 (approx. 73–76% score) for academic credentials.

Application Cycles

Multiple intakes available annually—typically in January, May/July, and September/October. Main deadline for visa applicants: December 1 to June 30.
