Every year, Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) accept about 200 students into our BM BS degree program. With one of the highest application rates of any UK medical school in recent admissions rounds, BSMS has shown to be incredibly popular. At Falmer, students spend the majority of their first two years on university campuses. In every department, we have specially designed instructional facilities. Early clinical involvement, a wide breadth of experience, and a solid basis in basic science are all emphasized in the curriculum. Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) are not dedicated to a single delivery technique and, under the direction of the Department of Medical Education, use a variety of teaching and learning strategies as needed for the specific situation.

Infrastructure & Facilities at Brighton and Sussex Medical School

First and second year classes will mostly be taught at the Falmer campuses of the Universities of Sussex and Brighton. Accommodations will be provided to you as a first-year medical student. However, you must apply for university residences before the deadline in late June 2025 and prioritize BSMS when confirming spots with UCAS. Living with students from around the world who are pursuing a variety of courses will allow you to be a part of a vibrant, stimulating, and international student community. After being assigned to one of the residence halls at the University of Sussex or the University of Brighton, BSMS students will be able to rate their preferences for housing.

The Medical Society, a student-run organization that provides clubs, sports teams, and year-round social events, is at the center of BSMS student life. The £50 lifetime MedSoc membership gives you access to discounts and representation for the duration of your five years at BSMS. In addition to collaborating with student unions, BSMS MedSoc hosts social events and teams tailored to medical students, including charity marathons, cabarets, balls, and presentations. The MedSoc team not only puts in a lot of effort to provide such a diverse range of student activities, but they are also represented on the BSMS student affairs committee, which gives BSMS students a way to voice their opinions.
