The orientation year is a one‑time opportunity, so it should be used strategically to launch your career in Belgium.
Non‑EEA graduates who have completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or doctoral programme at a recognised Belgian higher education institution, including BSoG, can apply for a residence permit for a ‘search year’ (or ‘orientation year’). This permit allows you to stay in Belgium for up to 12 months after graduation to actively seek employment or set up a business. You must apply before your student residence permit expires and have a valid passport
