Student Support

Chosun University offers extensive student support primarily through the Global Student Support Center and the "Saegilbit Program" (새길벗프로그램). This program assists students in navigating administrative tasks such as the academic calendar, visa processing, insurance registration, cultural field trips, and dormitory applications. For international students, the support extends to a mandatory medical check-up before dormitory entry and a specialized tutoring program where international students are matched with Korean undergraduate peers to help them adapt to university life and Korean culture. The "Global Bookscape Lounge" on the 5th floor of the Central Library is dedicated to international students, providing reading discussion programs, academic information utilization training, and curator development opportunities to build a global learning community

Student Life

Student life at Chosun University is active and engaging, centered around the largest student union building and the various festivals held in the open quad near the main gate. Students heavily utilize the "school bus" system to traverse the large, hilly campus between classes. The university hosts an annual festival (축제) involving K-pop performances, cultural booths from the 5 independent academic divisions, and traditional Korean food events. There is a strong tutoring culture, both officially (Korean-International buddy system) and unofficially, given the rigorous medical and engineering programs. The neighborhood surrounding the university, particularly near "Chosundae 6-gil," is filled with restaurants, karaoke rooms (noraebang), and cafe spaces where students hang out between classes. Freshmen are encouraged to live in dorms to build community while maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher qualifies returning students to stay in housing complexes

Housing facilities (Accommodation)

Chosun University provides on-campus housing primarily through "Global House" and "Green Village" dormitories, which together accommodate upwards of 1,000 students. Global House is a modern facility that admits 120 students specifically for immersion programs, including English-only zone policies and Chinese language support. These dormitories are equipped with computer rooms, laundry rooms, common lounges, shower rooms, and school stores. Each room typically features a single bed, desk, chair, closet with mirror, shoe rack, LAN outlet, and drying rack. However, specific housing policies require that all students staying in the dormitory must get a medical check-up before entering. Students beyond their first year (sophomores and above) must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher to qualify for university accommodation. Those who do not live on campus typically arrange boarding houses (hasookjibs) near the "Chosundae Back Gate" area

Student Safety

Safety on campus is managed by the university’s dedicated Security Services division, which collaborates with the Dongbu Police Station to provide legal and safety education for students, particularly international students. The university provides specific safety guidelines for movement around campus, encouraging students to be aware of alternate escape routes and safe places, and to immediately contact security if they observe unusual activity around parked vehicles or dark areas. Seoul-based police often conduct joint sexual violence prevention education and traffic safety seminars specifically for the international student body. The university operates well-lit walking paths (including the "Ol-gil" mountain path behind the admin building) and emergency call poles distributed throughout the campus parking lots and garden areas. Additionally, owing to the large hospital complex on site, medical emergency response times are incredibly swift [Source: General University Safety Protocols & Partner Communications]
