Completed Application & $40 Fee
Begin by submitting the online application for admission through Apply to CMU or the Common Application. A non-refundable $40 application fee is required, though fee waivers may be available upon request.
2. Official High School Transcript
Request your high school to send an official transcript directly to CMU's Admissions Office. This is mandatory for all first-time freshmen. Home-schooled students should provide a transcript of all courses taken at the high school level.
3. Self-Reported SAT or ACT Scores
First-time students are required to self-report their SAT or ACT scores on the admissions application. These scores may be considered for admission purposes if your GPA is below 3.0. They are not considered for merit scholarship purposes but may be used for class placement.
4. Optional: Letters of Recommendation & Personal Essay
While not required, submitting letters of recommendation and a personal essay can strengthen your application. These documents should be sent directly to CMU's Admissions Office.
5. Proof of English Language Proficiency (for International Students)
If English is not your first language, you must demonstrate proficiency through one of the following:
TOEFL: Minimum score of 70 (internet-based).
IELTS: Minimum score of 6.0.
DuoLingo: Minimum score of 105
