The priority application deadline for international students is March 31 for fall enrollment and September 30 for spring enrollment. For fall admission, the application deadline is June 1 with a documentation deadline of July 1, while for spring admission, the application deadline is October 15 with a documentation deadline of November 15. Applications submitted at least twenty days prior to the beginning of the term receive priority consideration.

International applicants must submit a completed application with a $30 non-refundable application fee, official transcripts with a course-by-course evaluation from an approved service such as SpanTran, WES, or ECE, official ACT or SAT score reports, English language proficiency test scores from TOEFL, Duolingo, or IELTS, verification of two immunizations for measles and rubella, and an Affidavit of Financial Support. All documents must be submitted directly to Delta State University International Student Services for full admission.

Students apply for a residence hall room by submitting the housing application with a $75 non-refundable application fee. Room assignments are notified prior to the opening of residence halls for the requested semester, and preferences are honored by date of application, so early application enhances the chance of getting the requested roommate and hall of choice. If a student changes their mind about living in Delta State Housing, written notification must be made to the Housing Office before specific deadlines for each semester.

Delta State University residence halls offer fully furnished rooms with free high-speed internet, 24-hour security and emergency maintenance services, on-campus dining options and convenience stores, laundry facilities in every building, and access to recreational facilities such as a fitness center, swimming pool, and outdoor spaces. Residents can also stream movies for free when connected to the Delta State Wi-Fi through OkraStream. Housing options include Foundation Hall with private baths in each room, Brumby-Castle Hall located in the heart of campus, and Blansett Hall near the campus dining hall.

International students at Delta State University can participate in Optional Practical Training (OPT), which allows F-1 students to work in the United States for up to 12 months after graduation in a position directly related to their field of study. The university currently has 22 students participating in post-completion OPT. Additionally, STEM-eligible graduates may apply for a 24-month STEM OPT extension, providing up to 36 months of total work authorization after graduation.

Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is a temporary work authorization for F-1 students to gain practical experience related to their major while still studying. Students at Delta State University can use CPT during their academic program, but if a student completes 12 months or more of full-time CPT, they will no longer be eligible for OPT after graduation.
