The Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), founded on May 5, 1954, began as the University of Espírito Santo before becoming a federal institution in 1961 under President Juscelino Kubitschek. As the largest higher education institution in the state, UFES has four campuses—Goiabeiras, Maruípe, Alegre, and São Mateus.

Frequently Asked Questions

You need to submit an application form (UFES model), a study plan, a copy of your passport, three recommendation letters (two from professors and one from your home university), and your academic transcripts.
All documents must be sent as a single PDF file via email to the university's official address, with the subject line “Incoming UFES 2025/1.” The documents can be in either Portuguese or English.
You will need to apply for a Brazilian student visa, known as Visto de Estudante IV, at the Brazilian embassy in your home country after receiving your acceptance letter.
