The Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), originally founded as the University of Recife in 1946, has grown into one of Brazil’s leading research institutions. Initially centered around the historic Faculty of Law of Olinda, UFPE expanded steadily with the construction of its main campus in 1948 and federalization in 1955.
