Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) was founded in 1811 by Archduke John as a polytechnical institute. It later became the "Imperial and Royal Technical College in Graz" in 1874 and has since evolved into a leading international research and educational institution.
One of the most famous alumni of TU Graz is the physicist Nikola Tesla, known for his contributions to electrical engineering and the development of alternating current (AC) technology.
TU Graz has three main campuses: two in the city center and one to the southeast. The largest is the Inffeldgasse Campus, which houses institutes for mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science. This campus has undergone major developments, including the construction of the high-voltage hall (Nikola Tesla Laboratory) and the computer science and telematics building.
