No. Hampton University does not issue post-study work visas. Instead, international students may apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT), a U.S. government program that allows F-1 visa holders to work in their field of study after graduation.
Post-completion OPT allows international students to work in the U.S. for up to 12 months after completing their degree. Students with a qualifying STEM degree may apply for a 24-month STEM OPT extension, giving them up to 36 months of work authorization.
Hampton’s Designated School Officials (DSOs) can recommend students for OPT in SEVIS and guide them through the application process with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The international student services office also helps students understand eligibility requirements and prepare for a possible STEM extension.
