To enter graduate programs, applicants must take and pass entrance examinations and interviews administered by Hirosaki University. 

Applicants may be required to select / contact a supervisor at the department they wish to join before applying, or designate their preferred faculty member. 

The Graduate School Entrance Guidelines (????) specify the detailed conditions, exam schedules, and selection methods. 

For some programs (e.g. “Regional Co-creation Science”), the “General Selection” route uses:

 • Document screening (e.g. academic record, research plan)

 • Oral examination (interview) emphasizing expertise, research motivation, cross-disciplinary willingness. 

For some departments, special admission categories exist:

 • Foreign Student Special Selection, which may require proofreading of English ability, performance records, research plan, and consent or recommendation from the intended supervisor. 

Applicants need to submit required documents such as:

 • Application / admission forms

 • Academic transcripts

 • Statement of research plan

 • Recommendation letters

 • In some cases English ability documentation or research track record. 

Some programs distinguish between general selection, recommendation, or special selection (e.g. for working professionals or foreign students).
