Sapporo, Japan
From Hokkaido University’s “Undergraduate Admissions Overview” and application guidelines:
International students are welcome to apply. Undergrad programs are mostly taught in Japanese, except for two undergraduate programs in English:
• Modern Japanese Studies Program (MJSP)
• Integrated Science Program (ISP)
Applicants must satisfy the eligibility criteria under the “Self-supported International Students” scheme.
Applicants are required to take certain entrance examinations, including EJU (Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students) subjects as designated by Hokkaido University.
For medical, health science, or science-intensive departments, there are designated EJU subject requirements: e.g. Japanese as a Foreign Language, Mathematics 2, and chosen science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) depending on the program.
Applicants must submit academic records, transcripts, certificate of graduation (or expected graduation), and language test scores (Japanese and/or English) as proof of proficiency.
For MJSP / ISP, the application guidelines specify housing, health check, dormitory support, and other procedural requirements.
