THI's main campus at Esplanade 10 in Ingolstadt is a modern, centrally-located hub. The infrastructure includes eight interconnected buildings (A through N, P, and W/CUBE) that house everything from lecture halls and seminar rooms to advanced laboratories, canteens, a cafeteria, and administrative offices. The campus is easily accessible by bus (lines 16, 18, 44 from the main train station) and car, with several public underground parking garages nearby. The campus grounds themselves are a mix of historic fortress buildings and award-winning modern architecture, with the CARISSMA research and test centre as a key feature. THI also has a second campus in Neuburg an der Donau, focusing on sustainable infrastructure.

Student Support

For international students, support is coordinated by the International Welcome Centre (IWC), which offers comprehensive services from onboarding and residence permit applications to intercultural training and German courses. General student support is available at the ServicePoint Student Services in Building J, which combines the Service Center for Study Affairs, the International Office, and the Student Counselling & Career Service. THI also supports students through mentoring programmes and specific offers for those studying with children or facing social challenges.

Student life at THI is vibrant and varied, largely shaped by numerous student clubs and initiatives. Housing facilities (Accommodation)

The THI does not have its own student dormitories on campus, as this is uncommon in Germany. However, students can find accommodation in official student residences run by the "Studentenwerk" (Student Union). There are existing halls of residence on Münzbergstrasse, Beckerstrasse, and Hildegard-Knef-Strasse. A new residence hall, "Lutz21," is expected to be ready for occupancy in the summer semester of 2026, which will bring the total number of publicly subsidised student places in Ingolstadt to 432. Students can also search for private housing, and the monthly budget for housing is typically between €350 and €500.

Student Safety

THI ensures student safety through clear campus rules and a secure environment. The university enforces a weapons ban, and compliance checks can be carried out by house-rights officers and the security service. Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is only permitted in designated smoking areas on the main campus. Ingolstadt itself is generally considered a very safe city where students feel comfortable walking even at night. The campus is centrally located and well-lit, and the university administration is committed to providing a secure and welcoming environment for all.
