Step-by-Step Guide to Admission Requirements at Inscape Education

1. Higher Certificate or Diploma Entry

Applicants need a National Senior Certificate (NSC), certified by Umalusi, which grants admission to a higher certificate or diploma programme.

For Diploma programmes, candidates must also have a minimum 30% in the language of instruction (English) plus at least a 40–49% score (Achievement Rating 3) in four NSC 20-credit subjects.

Similar standards apply to Higher Certificate programmes, with acceptable proficiency in English.

2. Bachelor of Design Programmes

Entry requires a National Senior Certificate (NSC) qualified for degree admission—specifically needing 50–59% in four NSC 20-credit subjects and at least 30% in English (the instruction language at Inscape Dubai).

For the Bachelor of Arts in Digital Marketing and Communications, higher thresholds apply: at least 50% in English and either 40% in Mathematics or 60% in Mathematical Literacy.

Some applicants may also need to complete the National Benchmark Test (NBT), achieving ≥51% in Academic Literacy (AL) and ≥40% in Quantitative Literacy (QL).

3. BA Honours in Design

Candidates must have completed an Inscape Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 60% average in their final year.

Alternatively, applicants with a BA Degree or Advanced Diploma in Design (e.g., Communication or Interior Design) can apply if they have achieved a minimum 60% average, submit a portfolio of practical work, and a motivation letter stating their chosen field and academic objectives.

4. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) & Credit Transfer

Inscape accommodates admissions via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Accumulation & Transfer (CAT). Applicants following these pathways must adhere to documented procedures outlined in the official admissions policy.

5. Special Admissions (International Applicants)

Applicants without an official NSC must obtain a South African Matriculation Board (MB) exemption certificate from Universities South Africa (USAf) to certify eligibility.

Depending on circumstances, exemptions may be full, conditional, or based on mature age criteria.
