Everything You Need to Know About Application Requirements at John Brown University

Must hold a bachelor’s degree from an institution recognized by appropriate accrediting bodies. 

Complete the graduate application, which includes a short essay (~200 words) about professional plans and motivations. 

Submit official transcripts from undergraduate (and if applicable, any graduate) institutions directly to JBU. 

Provide three recommendation forms (from people familiar with the applicant’s character and scholarship). 

For certain degree programs, entrance exam scores (GRE or other) may be required. 

For international applicants:

 • Must demonstrate English proficiency (TOEFL ≥ 80 iBT or IELTS ≥ 6.5) 

 • Provide credential evaluations for non-U.S. transcripts via The Evaluations Company. 

Some programs have program-specific requirements: e.g. for MBA, applicants must have undergraduate coursework in finance, accounting, statistics, and economics; JBU does not require GRE/GMAT for the MBA. 

For graduate counseling programs, applicants must have undergraduate GPA ≥ 2.75, and may be required to interview with faculty.
