ISTU is recognised as a leading technical university in its region and one of the prominent engineering education institutions in Russia. It offers a broad selection of programmes: for example, it provides around 39-41 Bachelor’s programmes and approximately 31 Master’s programmes. Some study programmes at ISTU have international accreditation (e.g., by ZEvA in Germany) reflecting global quality standards. These features — strong technical orientation, international accreditation, and campus with extensive infrastructure — form its USP.

The ISTU campus is located on the outskirts of Izhevsk, in a park-and-green area environment, offering a spacious setting. The infrastructure comprises 8 educational buildings, 6 student hostels, a “Palace of Culture – Integral”, a health-centre, a polyclinic, a stadium and a modern swimming pool. Student hostels have shared cooking and laundry facilities, and the campus includes multiple snack-bars and canteens for meals.
Life at ISTU includes more than academics; the palace “Integral” houses a student theatre, rock-club, jazz band, and hosts cultural and entertainment events such as discos, intellectual games and faculty parties. A sports centre on the bank of the Kama River offers recreational housing, sports fields and a sauna for off-campus relaxation. The campus environment mixes technical education with social, cultural and outdoor engagement for students.
