Maynooth University History
Maynooth University was established in the year 1997 with an autonomous status. This makes the University one of the youngest universities in the country. However, its roots can be traced back to the year 1795 as the Royal College of St Patrick thus also making it one of the oldest institutions.
Maynooth University Programs, Courses, and Schools
The University comprises of a varied range of courses across 3 faculties namely Faculty of Arts, Celtic Studies and Philosophy, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Science and Engineering. Students can enroll in undergraduate, postgraduate as well as research programs in the mentioned faculties.
Maynooth University Campuses
The University comprises of the main campus and the Kilkenny Campus. The main campus is divided into the South Campus and the North Campus. The campuses were connected by a footbridge but lately due to the construction of a well-equipped library now it connects with a pedestrian crossing. The University comprises of on-campus accommodation. The Kilkenny campus was closed in June 2018.
Maynooth University USP and Achievements
The University has an interesting feature called the Maynooth University Access Programme. This initiative is highly beneficial to the under-represented school leavers, students with disabilities and mature students. With the motive to serve society by encouraging individuals to be confident and independent, the University has played a major role in doing so.
