Student Support

The University Library and Student Support (UB) unit provides learning-support services such as tutoring in information retrieval, guidance in writing and reference-management, and special assistance for students with disabilities.  Student unions on each campus represent student interests in education and social matters, and maintain programme associations that help students connect with industry, get social experiences and develop employability.  For new and international students, orientation programmes and campus-specific resources guide arrival, housing, life on campus and social integration.

Student life at Mid Sweden University is active and varied. At the Sundsvall campus, students benefit from a campus location just a short walk from the city centre, with facilities such as outdoor volleyball and basketball courts, a student pub and common areas in the Student Union House.  At the Östersund campus, the proximity to nature and winter-sports facilities gives students access to skiing, trekking, fishing and other outdoor activities year-round.  The student unions organise welcome weeks, social events, parties, trips and student-association activities, promoting both social life and academic support.

Housing facilities (Accommodation)

While Mid Sweden University does not directly provide its own student dormitories under its ownership, it collaborates closely with local student-housing companies in each host city (Sundsvall and Östersund).  Student accommodation options include dormitory rooms, shared apartments, single apartments, and cottage apartments, provided via external housing providers.  For visiting researchers and doctoral students there are also on-campus or near-campus furnished studio apartments administered via the university’s housing office.  The typical monthly rent in the region for student housing is reported in one source to range between approximately SEK 2,000-4,000 depending on type.

Student Safety

Although there is no dedicated “campus security” page cited in the sources retrieved, the Student Health Centre and Student Support services at Mid Sweden University emphasise well-being, prevention of health risks, and crisis support for students, which form part of the student-safety ecosystem.  Furthermore, practical guidance is provided for international/visiting students about “what to do if you fall acutely ill” and how to access regional emergency services (calling 112) or district health centres.  These measures reflect the institution’s approach toward ensuring student safety—particularly in health and emergency contexts.
