Originally established as the main campus of the former Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), it became part of MTU when the university was formed in 2021.

Spread across an approximately 80-acre campus in Cork, it includes lecture theatres, laboratories, engineering workshops, computer suites, drawing studios, research centres, open-access computing facilities, student services offices, and industry support centres. The campus serves as the main academic hub for programmes in business, science, computing, engineering, media communications, and humanities. A major highlight of the campus infrastructure is the MTU Arena, a state-of-the-art multi-purpose facility officially opened in 2023. The arena includes a 1,340-square-metre sports hall, two fitness studios, a café, and a 600-square-metre gym, and is used for sporting events, conferences, graduations, examinations, careers fairs, and community activities. The €13 million development is one of several major infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the student experience.
