Murray State University is located in Murray, Kentucky. The university was founded in 1922, and the first president was John Wesley Carr. The university initially started as Murray State Normal School. Then later, in 1948, it changed to Murray State College, and again, in 1966, it was renamed what it is known today as Murray State University.
