Students can plan weekend trips or getaways to Branch Brook Park, Prudential Center, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Ironbound, Newark Museum, Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Newark Public Library, Newark Penn Station etc. They can also visit the Red Bull Stadium, Downtown Jersey City and Turtle Back Zoo etc.

NJIT runs hundreds of clubs for students to explore their capabilities, expand their social circle and meet new friends. There are clubs for everyone and every interest like educational, multicultural, artistic, pre-professional, political, athletic, religious, service-oriented and a lot more. Some of the clubs are Salesforce Student Course, Business Masterminds Club Officers, Entrepreneur’s Society etc. NJIT has a special center for the health and fitness of the students called The Wellness and Events Center which was opened in 2017 with a spending of $110 million. The building has a pool, locker rooms, indoor tracks, concessions, suites, offices and a fitness center.
