OST operates three campuses and engages in teaching, research, and advisory operations. Here you will find an overview of the OST Campuses in St. Gallen, Rapperswil-Jona and Buchs. Each campus page has more specific details about sports programs, opening hours, infrastructure, and much more. OST Buchs Campus is built on the premises of the old NTB Interstate University of Applied Sciences Buchs. On September 1, 2020, the universities of applied sciences FHS St. Gallen, HSR Rapperswil and NTB Buchs merged their strengths to become the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (OST). About 2,200 students, instructors, and employees of the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences have access to the Rapperswil-Jona Campus for work, study, and research. St. Gallen is a center for education with a reputation that goes well beyond its boundaries. This national and international network is advantageous to the St. Gallen Campus. At the St. Gallen Campus, around 1700 students complete degree programs each year, and almost the same number complete executive education courses.

Student Life

OST – Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences offers a practice-oriented student life with ~6,000 students across campuses in Rapperswil-Jona (lakefront), St. Gallen (city), and Buchs (Rhine Valley). It boasts a close-knit community, industry-focused projects, international exchange possibilities, and gorgeous natural surroundings for leisure. 

Housing facilities (Accommodation)

Limited on-campus housing is available at OST University of Applied Sciences (OST), mostly in Rapperswil. Shared apartments and studios typically cost between CHF 500 and 700 a month. The deadlines for applications are October 15 for spring and May 15 for fall. For campuses in Buchs and St. Gallen, the International Office helps locate private housing. 

Student Safety

A top-notch setting for IT security education, research, and professional training is provided by INS's Cybersecurity Competence Center. We offer ideal circumstances for creative research initiatives with two security labs that are professionally furnished.

Ivan Bütler's Hacking Lab module, which is housed at our center, is a special attraction. This software offers students a fantastic opportunity to obtain hands-on experience in finding and analyzing security flaws in computer systems, allowing them to enhance their cybersecurity skills in a focused approach.
