Its campuses feature smart classrooms, engineering laboratories, health simulation laboratories, multimedia studios, computer laboratories, theatres, film production facilities, music rehearsal rooms, dance studios, research centres, auditoriums, libraries, innovation spaces, and collaborative learning environments. These facilities are equipped with industry-standard technologies that support practical training, applied research, and project-based learning.
The institute's infrastructure is designed to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Students have access to high-speed Wi-Fi, digital learning platforms, computer workstations, maker and innovation spaces, research laboratories, specialized workshops, study areas, cafeterias, and student support centres. The Presidency's Common Services Centre provides centralized administrative, academic, IT, international, and career support services for all eight schools, ensuring efficient access to student resources across the institution.

Each of IPL's eight schools provides career and employability services that help students transition successfully into the labour market. In 2023, the institute launched the Career Center by JobTeaser, an online employability platform that connects students and alumni with employers by providing exclusive job and internship opportunities, career events, recruitment sessions, webinars, company presentations, digital career resources, and direct contact with human resource professionals. As of 2024, the platform included more than 430 registered companies, creating extensive recruitment opportunities across multiple disciplines.
IPL maintains strong partnerships with private companies, public organizations, municipalities, research institutions, and professional associations across sectors such as engineering, business, accounting, health sciences, communication, education, technology, media, and the creative industries. Many academic programmes include curricular internships, practical laboratory work, and company-sponsored projects that allow students to gain hands-on professional experience before graduation. Students also participate in seminars, workshops, employer presentations, and real-world projects led by industry partners, ensuring that their knowledge and skills remain aligned with labour market needs.
The below information is required while
completing the university application :
1. International students applying for an undergraduate programme at the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon (IPL) must apply under the International Student Statute, provided they do not hold Portuguese or another European Union nationality and meet the eligibility criteria.
2. Applicants must possess a Portuguese secondary school diploma, a qualification legally equivalent to Portuguese secondary education, or a qualification that grants access to higher education in their home country.
3. In addition, applicants must have the required academic background in the subjects relevant to their chosen programme and satisfy any programme specific prerequisites, particularly for courses in engineering, health sciences, or the performing arts.
4. Applicants must also demonstrate adequate proficiency in the language of instruction.
5. For programmes taught in Portuguese, students are generally required to achieve B2 level proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) by the end of their first academic year.
6. Candidates with B1-level Portuguese may be admitted conditionally if they commit to completing an approved Portuguese language course.
