The university offers free admission to all of its museums and exhibitions. Located on the right side of the River Daugava, the historical center is currently referred to as the Old Town (or Old Riga). There are about 620,000 people living in Riga, which is spread across 40 neighborhoods. Pārdaugava, which means across the Daugava, is a common term used to describe those on the left bank of the River Daugava.

Student Services at Rīga Stradiňš University (RSU) is a structural entity dedicated to helping present and potential students with their daily and academic needs. In addition to provide broad information on other structural units, such as their location and contact details, Student Services can offer guidance on the study process. Students can use email, phone calls, or in-person interactions to obtain information.

Student Life

Riga offers a wide variety of entertainment options, including theaters, movie theaters, museums, art galleries, and creative centers. The city was named the European Capital of Culture in 2014. Holiday markets, concerts, festivals with everything from classical to alternative music, Museum Night, Researchers' Night, and many other activities are held on a regular basis both indoors and outdoors throughout the year. There are many different places to shop, just as in any European city. At Centrāltirgus, also known as the Central Market or the Āgenskalns Market in Pārdaugava, many people like purchasing organic food from Latvian farms. This also applies to RSU students who visit the Riga Central Market for recreation and purchase fresh food there.

Housing facilities (Accommodation)

Dzirciems, Āgenskalns, and Mežciems are the three locations where RSU offers dorms for students. Two of these, Dzirciems and Āgenskalns, are near several of the research bases and the RSU Main Building. Depending on their needs and financial situation, students can select rooms in dorms. Two or three persons can split the cost of the accommodations. Make sure you apply ahead of time because the rooms are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Every hostel has gyms and other sports amenities. Locals can also utilize the free outdoor basketball court and workout bars at 3 Hipokrāta iela.

Student Safety

Latvia and Riga are generally safe. Violent street crime is rare and most security problems are related with petty theft, such as pick-pocketing, which is a problem in some parts of the core of Riga (e.g., Central Market). Be mindful of your personal items and stay off of dimly lighted streets after dark.
