The Sapienza University of Rome History and Background 

The Sapienza University of Rome has a high enrollment rate and it is one of the oldest universities in Europe. The University was founded in 1303 but came to be known as the Sapienza University only in the 1650s. The University is one of the reputable universities in Italy and it usually ranks first in southern Europe. 
There are many Nobel Laureates, Presidents and Parliamentarians, Commissioners, head of states, scientists and astronauts associated with the Sapienza University of Rome.

The University has a total of 11 faculties & 65 departments. There are 140000 students and 8000 academic and Technical admin staff. It's the largest university in Italy. There are ten masters programs taught in English in Sapienza. The university also offers significant research programs in engineering, natural sciences, biomedical sciences and humanities.

Sapienza University has many campuses in Rome but its main campus is the University city, which has a vast area near the Roma Tiburtina Station. The university has satellite campuses outside Rome, the primary campus is in Latina.
