General / Common Requirements

Submit a graduate application and pay the application fee (typically US $40) 

Provide official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions attended. 

Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution prior to enrollment. 

Minimum undergraduate GPA requirement:

  • Many programs expect 2.50 / 4.0 as a baseline 

  • Some programs raise that to 2.75 in relevant coursework (especially quantitative or engineering) 

  • For some fields (e.g. Social Work), a 3.0 GPA is preferred, though candidates with lower GPAs may be conditionally considered. 

English proficiency requirement: For applicants whose native language is not English, required scores include:

  • TOEFL (minimum ~79 iBT) 

  • IELTS (minimum ~6.5) 

Statement of Purpose / Personal Statement, current résumé / CV often required. 

GRE / GMAT / additional test scores: Some programs require or recommend them, especially if undergraduate GPA is lower. For example:

  • MBA: GMAT / GRE may be requested if GPA is low. 

  • Mechanical Engineering: GRE strongly recommended in many cases. 

Program-specific prerequisites or experience:

  • MS in Computer Science: BSc in science / computing preferred; GRE recommended but not required. 

  • Higher Education & Student Affairs: Requires resume, statement of purpose, and in international cases, proof of English proficiency. 

  • Public Health (MPH): GPA minimum 3.0, personal statement, transcript, GRE optional. 

Departments may hold competitive review (interviews, evaluation of quant courses, etc.) beyond meeting minimums. 

Deadlines for admissions:

  • Fall, Spring, and Summer deadlines vary. International applicants must mind visa processing timelines.
