Bachelor’s degree requirement: Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (or equivalent), completed by or before the first day of classes of the graduate term. 

Minimum GPA: A cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale) is generally required. Some programs may have higher GPA thresholds. 

Official transcripts: From all prior institutions (undergraduate and any prior graduate work) must be submitted. 

Application materials: May include résumé / curriculum vitae, letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, and other supporting documents. 

Graduate program evaluation: After meeting minimum criteria, applications are reviewed by the program’s faculty committee, which may ask for further documentation or interviews. 

English proficiency for international graduate applicants:

  • TOEFL, IELTS, or other recognized English tests are required. 

  • For instance, TOEFL iBT score of 100+ for full admission; 79–99 may result in provisional status requiring additional language coursework. 

Conditional / provisional admission: Applicants may be admitted conditionally if certain requirements (e.g. English proficiency) are unmet but will need to complete them before full admission. 

Program-specific requirements: Some master’s or doctoral programs may require GRE / GMAT scores, prerequisite courses, professional experience, portfolios, or capstone proposals. 

  - Example: The Master of Engineering Management (MEM) at SCSU requires a bachelor’s degree, minimum GPA of 2.75, and may require English proficiency for international applicants. 

Admission decision types: Applicants may receive unconditional admission, provisional admission, conditional admission, or language admission depending on their profiles.
