Bachelor’s Degree Requirement

  Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. 

GPA / Academic Performance

  A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 is required for full admittance. Provisional admission may be considered for those who show strong potential despite lower GPA. 

Transcripts / Academic Records

  Official transcripts (electronic or otherwise) verifying degree awarded, date conferred, and senior-year grades at minimum. 

  Corrections of deficiencies: Applicants may be required to complete additional coursework to remedy gaps in preparation. 

Recommendation Letters

  Two current academic letters of recommendation focused on academic potential and readiness for graduate study. 

Résumé / CV & Personal Statement

  A résumé or curriculum vitae is required. 

  A cover letter or statement of fit / interest is often requested, sometimes optional depending on the program. 

Standardized Tests / Exams

  GRE is sometimes required (depending on program) — some programs do not require it. 

  Other tests (e.g. for education programs) may require Praxis, GMAT, LSAT depending on the field. 

  For applicants whose first language is not English: proof of English proficiency (e.g. TOEFL / IELTS) is required. 

Other Program-Specific Requirements

  Some graduate programs may ask for writing samples, research proposal, portfolio, or prior course prerequisites. 

  For example, in the Psychology department, selecting a faculty supervisor may be part of the application process. 

Residency & Time Limits

  For the master’s degree, at least 27 credit hours of coursework must be completed at St. Lawrence University. 

  The master’s degree work must be completed within six years of matriculation.
