Applicants must be U.S. citizens, of good moral character, at least 17 but not yet 23 years of age by July 1 of the year they enter, unmarried with no dependents, and academically prepared for a rigorous university-level curriculum.
Most candidates receive a nomination from a member of the U.S. Congress (their Representative or Senators). Other nomination sources include the Vice President, service-connected nominations for children of career military personnel, and nominations for enlisted personnel.
No, there is no fee to apply to the United States Air Force Academy. The entire education, including tuition, room, and board, is provided at no cost to the cadet.
