The application period for EU/EEA citizens and applicants runs from 1 October to 15 May, while for non-EU/EEA citizens and applicants the deadline is 30 April, with the application period starting on 1 October. Due to visa requirements, the application deadline for NON EU/EEA applicants is 15 March, and EU/EEA applicants can hand in their applications by 15 June, with early application recommended.
The admission procedure for master's degree programmes consists of an online admission test followed by an oral part, which may be an interview, presentation or in another suitable format. The online admission test takes place for all degree programmes in the summer semester, from March to June, and after submitting a complete application, applicants who fulfil the admission prerequisites receive an invitation to sit the entrance examination.
The main building is situated at Wohlmutstrasse 22, 1020 Vienna, near the Underground station Messe Prater, while the second location is at Media Quarter Marx (MQM), Maria Jakobi Gasse 1/3.4, 1030 Vienna, near the Underground station Schlachthausgasse and train station St. Marx. The UAS BFI Vienna does not provide student accommodation, however Vienna is a student-friendly city and there are many different types of accommodation to choose from, like student dormitories, private rented apartments or shared apartments. The OeAD Housing Office offers student dorms in various areas of the city of Vienna, and the "OeAD-Guesthouse MOLKEREISTRASSE" is a modern student guest house just around the corner from the main location of the UAS BFI Vienna.
If you are a third-country national who has successfully completed your studies, you may renew your residence permit "Students" for a period of twelve months for the purpose of searching for employment or starting a business, provided that you fulfil the general requirements under Austrian settlement and residence law such as sufficient means of subsistence and health insurance coverage. If within these twelve months you receive an employment offer from a specified employer which matches your level of qualification, you can apply for a Red-White-Red Card without a labour market test.
You can obtain a Red-White-Red Card if you have graduated from an Austrian university, university of applied sciences, private college, or private university as defined by the Private Higher Education Act (PrivHG). For graduates, there is no points system, and the Red-White-Red Card allows you to settle temporarily in Austria and to work for the employer specified in your application, provided you get paid the locally customary gross minimum salary which comparable Austrian graduates would receive and you fulfil the general requirements under Austrian settlement and residence law.
