Student Life

Student life at the UAS BFI Vienna is enriched through the European Student Network (ESN), which was founded by students in 2007 with the support of the International Office and operates as part of the Europe-wide Erasmus Student Network to promote networking and exchange among international students. All students can join ESN and together organise events and trips for and with international students, make contacts, and gather important experiences for their future professional lives. The buddy system, organised by the ESN section, pairs incoming students with a personal advisor who helps them quickly find their way in the new environment and study situation, serving as the first point of contact for questions regarding travel, public transport in Vienna, student life, or formalities regarding their stay. The university also runs a mentorship programme called DamenLogistikMentoring in cooperation with the DamenLogistikClub, which supports female students and graduates in shaping their careers in the logistics industry. The ÖH FH des BFI Wien organises various events and provides opportunities for student engagement through its referats for sport, events, and other areas, with involvement offering flexible working hours, coaching, and the possibility to earn up to 6 ECTS credits.

However, Vienna is a student-friendly city offering a wide variety of housing options, including student dormitories, private rental apartments, and shared flats. The OeAD-Guesthouse MOLKEREISTRASSE is located around the corner from the main location of the UAS BFI Vienna and provides a convenient option. Students are advised to budget approximately €400 per month for accommodation including heating and lighting. Suitable platforms for accommodation searches include the Austrian Exchange Service (OeAD) and the Austrian Students' Union, as well as various online housing portals. The university recommends that students double-check which degree programme their selected courses belong to before booking accommodation, as some programmes are taught at the MQM campus which is approximately 30 minutes by public transport from the main building.
