Housing facilities (Accommodation)

Students at UE Amsterdam generally need to find housing in Amsterdam on their own, as the university does not directly provide dormitories. Affordable accommodation in the city is limited and competitive, so it’s important to start your search well before the semester starts. Partner options include The Student Hotel Amsterdam, where UE Amsterdam has a collaboration offering fully equipped private rooms with utilities, study spaces, social events, and 24/7 facilities suitable for international students. In addition to this partnership, students are encouraged to register on trusted Dutch student housing platforms like Studentenwoningweb.nl and ROOM.nl early, as these services help you find long-term rooms or apartments but often have long waiting lists. Because Amsterdam’s housing market is tight with high demand from students and other residents, many students also search for private rentals, shared apartments, or short-term stays through local platforms and housing agencies to secure suitable accommodation.

Student Safety

Although UE Amsterdam doesn’t publish a detailed campus safety plan online, it follows the Dutch national Code of Conduct for International Students, which sets safety and quality expectations for all participating institutions and is a requirement for hosting international students in the Netherlands. Amsterdam as a city is generally considered safe, with international rankings showing it among Europe’s safer capitals and 96% of students reporting satisfaction with safety in surveys. However, like any major city, petty crime such as pickpocketing and bicycle theft does occur, especially in crowded, tourist‑heavy areas so students are advised to remain aware of their belongings and surroundings. At a broader level, Dutch universities and colleges typically promote safety through codes of conduct, behavioural guidelines, and respectful community standards, and Amsterdam’s police and emergency services (112 in the Netherlands) are active and accessible to students for assistance.

Career Support

UE Amsterdam has a dedicated Career Centre that supports students in preparing for the job market and connects them with employers. The centre offers career counselling, workshops, internship guidance, resume and LinkedIn optimisation, and interview preparation, helping students build the skills and confidence needed for internships and graduate roles. It also organises networking events and employer-focused sessions where students can meet professionals and alumni. The Career Centre helps students identify and access internship opportunities, part-time positions, and career openings by sharing listings, advising on search strategies, and advising on market trends. They support students in finding practical work experience that counts towards graduation or enhances employability. UE Amsterdam hosts an Annual Job Fair where companies can present their organisation and meet students for potential internships, part-time jobs, traineeships, and junior roles. Alongside job fairs, the school collaborates with partners to run masterclasses and employer events, giving students direct exposure to recruiters and industry leaders.
