To be eligible for a Bachelor’s degree programme, international applicants must have a valid secondary school leaving qualification that entitles them to enter higher education in their home country and is comparable to an Austrian university entrance qualification (typically at least 12 years of formal schooling). Whether a foreign certificate meets this requirement is assessed by the university admissions team after you submit your online application.
You must complete an online application with key documents such as your passport or identity proof, CV, recent school transcripts/diploma certificate, and a photo. If your final certificate isn’t yet available, you can usually submit your most recent school report or transcript and provide the final diploma before studies begin.
Language proficiency must be demonstrated depending on the language of instruction: for German taught programmes, a German certificate at CEFR level B2 is required; for English taught programmes, proof of English skills at B2 level is needed unless you are from an English speaking country like the USA, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand.
After submitting your application, you will be invited to a 20 minute admission interview (in person or online) once the admissions team has reviewed your credentials; the interview is a required step before a final offer is given.
In some cases, preparatory or foundation courses may be recommended, and additional entrance exams in subjects such as German, mathematics or English may be required during the first semesters if your secondary school qualification differs from the typical Austrian academic profile.
