The Swiss capital, Bern, has a close relationship with the University of Bern. Because of his outstanding academic record, Bern is well-known throughout the world. High living and environmental standards, along with a wide range of educational, athletic, and cultural possibilities, make Bern a desirable location for researchers, PhD students, and undergraduates.
Despite not having a single sizable campus on the outskirts of the city, the University of Bern has continuously worked to establish itself as a city university. The majority of clinics and institutes are still within walking distance of one another in the Länggasse, the historic university neighborhood that borders the city center. The former women's hospital was renovated in 2005 to become a university center for institutions in the Faculty of Law and Department of Economics. The Faculty of Theology and other institutes in the Faculty of Humanities are currently housed in an old chocolate factory. The Department of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Human Sciences are currently being renovated at the vonRoll site, another former manufacturing facility.
