The University of Dhaka, established on July 1, 1921, is the oldest active university in Bangladesh. Founded under the Dacca University Act of 1920, it was initiated by Nawab Sir Khwaja Salimullah Bahadur and Syed Nawab Ali Chowdhury to foster higher education in East Bengal.
