Everything You Need to Know About Application Requirements at University of Kiel

A completed Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognised institution is required. 

The previous bachelor’s degree must include relevant subject-specific knowledge/skills pertaining to the master’s programme (for example, in economics programmes: coursework in micro and macro theory, statistics, algebra) with certain minimum grade thresholds. 

Language proficiency:

For German-taught programmes: German language skills are required (often DSH-2 or equivalent). 

For English-taught or international master’s programmes: proof of English language competence is required (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL) depending on the programme. 

Application deadlines: For many international/non-EU applicants: winter semester applications ~ 1 April to 15 July, or summer semester ~ 1 October to 15 January (varies by programme) via uni-assist. 

Additional documents may include CV/resume, transcript of records, module handbooks where subject match must be verified, and in some cases, motivation letters or selection interviews.
