The University of North Texas (UNT) provides dedicated support for its students through the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program, a federally funded initiative aimed at enhancing academic success, retention, and graduation rates among eligible undergraduate students. Serving first-generation, low-income students, as well as students with disabilities, UNT’s TRIO SSS program empowers students to navigate and overcome academic, social, and financial challenges on their path to earning a degree. With $2 million in funding allocated for the 2020-2025 grant cycle, TRIO SSS assists 258 participants annually, offering essential services that help students thrive.

Academic Tutoring and Support: The program offers tutoring and connections to additional campus resources to address academic challenges and reinforce study skills.

Course Registration Assistance: TRIO SSS supplements advising from primary academic advisors, helping students select courses aligned with their academic goals.

Financial Aid Application Assistance: Support with completing financial aid forms, including FAFSA and UNT-specific aid applications, ensures students receive the financial support they need.

Financial Literacy Education: Through counseling and workshops, students gain valuable financial skills, including budgeting, managing debt, and financial planning.

Graduate and Professional School Enrollment Assistance: TRIO SSS offers guidance for students interested in pursuing further education, supporting applications and preparing students for graduate or professional school.

Living on Campus: UNT’s 15 residence halls each offer a distinct personality and sense of community. Many feature Living-Learning Communities (LLCs), which connect students who share a major or interest, enhancing both academic and social experiences.

Dining Options: UNT dining halls provide a variety of meal options, with great meal plan deals and open, all-you-can-eat dining. From hand-tossed pizza and a taco bar to Southern comfort foods and an all-vegan dining hall (Mean Greens), there’s a flavor for every taste.

Recreation and Sports: When it’s time to take a break, students can enjoy a range of activities, such as climbing the wall at the Pohl Rec Center, cheering on the Mean Green sports teams, or joining a pickup game. Housing facilities (Accommodation)

There are 15 residence halls on the Denton Campus—University of North Texas. The REAL communities allow students to live with other residents in significant programs greater than their major or discipline. On August 2,201, fifty-seven-year-old Maple Street Hall became the first all-vegan college cafeteria in the country. The given 14 residence halls at the University of North Texas are Honors Hall, Victory Hall, Joe Greene Hall, Kerr Hall, Legends Hall, Maple Hall, Mozart Square, Rawlins Hall, Bruce Hall, Santa Fe Square, Traditions Hall, Victory Hall, West Hall.

The crime rate in Texas is meager. It is considered a safe place for students. The university also carefully takes extra steps to maintain the safety and security of the students. It also has uniformed police patrol across the campus to ensure that no safety concerns affect the well-being of the students. The University of North Texas is equipped with modern safety technology like CCTVs to ensure the proper care of students.

From specialized workshops to individualized guidance, UNT provides a range of resources to ensure students are well-prepared for their future.

Graduate Services and Development: UNT offers exclusive services for graduate students, including monthly Thesis and Dissertation Boot Camps, the Graduate Student Teaching Excellence Program (GSTEP), and more than 70 annual academic and professional workshops led by faculty and staff experts. Students can also participate in the Three Minute Thesis® competition to sharpen their presentation skills.

Academic and Research Support: UNT provides free academic resources, including research consulting for statistical analysis, in-person and online tutoring through The Learning Center, and technical writing assistance at the Graduate Writing Support Center. These resources help students excel academically and professionally.

Library and Makerspace Access: With six libraries and over 6 million print and digital resources, UNT’s library system supports extensive research and study. Students have access to dedicated subject librarians, one of the largest Music Libraries in the U.S., and The Spark Makerspace, offering cutting-edge technology for hands-on learning and innovation.
