Academic Requirements
Completion of secondary/high school education equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma.
Strong academic performance, especially in core subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English, and Social Studies.
Competitive applicants typically have A or B+ grades (equivalent to a 3.7+ GPA on a 4.0 scale).
Advanced coursework such as AP, IB, A-Levels, or other rigorous curricula is highly recommended.
2. English Proficiency Requirements
Non-native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency through one of the following tests:
TOEFL iBT: Minimum 90 (some programs may require 100+).
IELTS: Minimum 7.0.
Duolingo English Test (DET): Minimum 125.
Students who have attended a school where English is the primary language of instruction may request an exemption.
3. Standardized Test Scores (Optional)
UVA is test-optional for SAT/ACT, but submitting strong scores can enhance an application.
Competitive SAT Scores: 1400–1550 (out of 1600).
Competitive ACT Scores: 32–35.
